FILM

Bartons fans have waited 37 years for it, but you can now legally own your very own copy of The Siege of Barton's Bathroom... in HD on Blu-Ray no less!

To be absolutely clear, as I'd hate to dissapoint anyone: I'm talking about the short film starring Rebekah Elmaloglou as Elly Barton; not the episode of the same name from the Bartons TV series starring Olivia. Sorry for those expecting the latter...

So how come the film is suddenly available?

Late last year, Jocelyn Moorhouse's first feature film Proof was finally released on Blu-Ray. This was done after a full on restoration project by the NSFA.

This Blu-Ray disc quietly sports a few extra features, one of which is The Siege of Barton's Bathroom in its entirety! How cool is that? I completely missed it was included until I bought the disc the other day. Imagine my surprise to find Siege on there!

Proof is a 1991 film by Jocelyn starring Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and Russell Crowe (Gladiator, Master and Commander). It tells the story of Martin, a blind man (played by Weaving) who trusts no one. He uses his photo camera to take pictures of the world, but due to his mistrust, he's never trusted anyone to describe his photos to him. That is, until he meets Andy (Crowe); a kitchen aid that is exceptionally kind to him. Unfortunately for both Martin and Andy, a jealous caretaker plots revenge against Martin by trying to break up his friendship with Andy.

You can read more about the Bartons film here, and read more about Proof itself, the Blu-Ray disc and where to buy it here.

As a side note: I've updated the Where to watch? page on the film to include the Proof Blu-Ray.
